A charter headline price is rarely the whole story. This guide lists the costs that can sit outside the hourly rate so you can compare quotes on equal terms.
Two quotes for the same trip can look very different because operators include different things in the headline. Some show an all in trip price, while others quote an hourly rate and add fees separately. Knowing what sits inside and outside the number is the key to comparing fairly.
The goal is a like for like comparison. Ask each quote to spell out what is included so you are not comparing a complete price against a bare rate.
Landing and airport fees, handling at the private terminal, and aircraft parking can all appear as separate lines. International trips can add customs, immigration, and navigation charges. Catering is usually billed on top, and special requests cost more.
Where the aircraft is based matters too. If it has to fly empty to reach your departure point, a repositioning or ferry charge may apply, which can be significant on a one way trip.
If the schedule keeps the crew away overnight, crew expenses such as accommodation may be added. Longer days can trigger a daily minimum number of flight hours. In winter, de icing is charged when conditions require it, and its cost varies with aircraft size and weather.
Taxes also apply depending on jurisdiction, such as federal excise tax in the United States or value added tax on certain flights in Europe. Ask which apply to your trip.
Ask for the total trip price in writing, with every fee itemised, and confirm whether fuel is fixed or can move before departure. Check the cancellation and change terms at the same time so you understand the full commitment.
