Flying private
with pets

One of the quiet advantages of private travel is that your pet can usually travel in the cabin beside you. This guide explains how pets fly privately, what to prepare, and the rules that still apply.

In the cabin

Pets travel beside you

On a private flight your pet normally travels in the cabin with you rather than in a hold. For many owners this is the single biggest reason to fly private, since it removes the stress of separation and lets you keep your animal comfortable throughout the journey.

Acceptance is at the discretion of the operator and the aircraft owner, so it is arranged in advance rather than assumed. Most are accommodating, but it is always confirmed as part of the booking.

Approval

Confirm pet acceptance per aircraft

Each operator sets its own policy on animals, and the aircraft owner may have preferences too. Some cabins are better suited to pets than others, and a small number may not accept them at all. The simplest approach is to mention your pet when you first enquire.

Sharing the species, size, and number of animals up front lets us match you with an aircraft and operator who welcome them, so there are no surprises on the day.

International

Cross border pet rules still apply

Flying privately does not change the import rules for animals. International travel with a pet can require microchipping, vaccinations, a health certificate from a vet, and compliance with the destination country rules. Some regions operate pet passport schemes.

These requirements vary widely by country and can involve lead time, so plan well ahead for any international trip with an animal and confirm exactly what your destination requires.

Comfort

Preparing your pet for the flight

A calm pet makes for a calm flight. Bring familiar items such as a favourite blanket or toy, plan feeding so your animal is comfortable rather than full at departure, and have water available. Most pets settle quickly once the cabin is quiet.

If your animal has specific needs, speak to your vet before travelling and let the operator know so the crew can prepare.

Plan ahead

Tell us about your pet when you enquire

The earlier we know about your pet, the easier it is to arrange a suitable aircraft and crew. Note the species, size, and number of animals when you get in touch.
